| Program description of Patterns |
-
PATTERNS is a program that traders can use to test and implement
trading systems utilizing pivots based upon
Andrews
concepts and pattern recognition. Alan Hall Andrews developed concepts such as Median Lines, Action Reaction
Lines, Trend Lines. Signals based upon these concepts can be loaded into the program, and tested both by running historical tests, and by viewing charts at earlier times and seeing what then actually happened.
Commodites (future contracts) are simulated by using roll-over features for expiring contracts.
The user will be able to input conditions and actions. Conditions are: went up to a limit,
went above the moving average, broke a signal line, etc. Actions are: trade or send out an alert (e-mail, beeper).
Displays a list of stocks the user is interested in, showing real time values, along with
real-time one-minute, hourly, daily, etc., charts.
Tests signals over the database of stocks which would have made the most money in the past.
If there is something people feel is important and should be done by the program, we can probably
do it.
We may introduce more complexity, such as complex trading signals, for an additional charge.
The program does the following:
-
Charts. You can go back in time, and view the chart along
with the automatic lines and signals at that date and time. View the chart in real time, and watch indicators form! These signals are proprietary files which are supplied along with the Patterns software.
You can save these charts as pdf files. See
Computer: pdf files
-
Historical Testing. See which signals would have made the
most money.
-
Scan all stocks to find stocks matching your criteria (profits, commissions, drawdowns)
-
Sectors. View charts of sectors. If you think energy stocks will make it,
you can look at the energy sector, appearing as a ordinary stock.
-
Alerts sent via e-mail, beeper, screen messages. Will automatically trade if you choose.
The alerts can be simple limits or stops, or if the value exceeded the moving average by a certain amount.
An alert or automatic trade can also be made if an Andrews signal was made.
-
Accounting. View graph of your trading activity,
showing for each day your money invested and the portfolio value based upon closing prices.
In addition, you can manually add the stock, number of shares, etc. In additon, you may choose an account. You may have a real account and an IRA account, and your trading strategies are different for these accounts. You may have simulated accounts. This guy is telling you all kinds of things, with promises to make money. Well, do what he says, but trade in the simulated account, and you will see what actually happens. Use the magic of SQL to find how
much money you made or lost per day, hour, year, stock. See in an instant how much you made taxable income
last year!
-
On line trading.
Trade on line. View your activity on line. Clear fonts. Cut and paste the activity to your personal database!
-
Spreads. View the chart of stock spreads, such as Swiss Franks and gold
-
Adobe Acrobat
files can be made with one click. These will show
lines and other signal indicators, your comments, and much more!

Data sources are:
