Student interruptions

Top  Previous  Next

Students will frequently interrupt the class with irrelevant questions or comments. We can politely respond to these question, so that the student gets the attention he/she is demanding, and then proceed.

Sometimes these interruptions are necessary to give them a break in their thinking. We all need time to digest ideas, just as we need time to digest food. I discovered this very important concept in college.

Of course, we have to prevent this from being excessive. We should try to get the talkative student to reduce the interruptions. If there really is a problem, try talking to the student after class. We must not show anger to the student.
