It is vital for teachers to be aware of the students. When I see a student that looks very tired, I have a chat with the student. Here is what I tell the student:

 

We need sleep for our general health, as we all know. Without enough sleep, we will not be fully healthy.

 

The other reason we need sleep is to think better. If you do not get enough sleep, you will be tired and stressed. In order to do your best thinking, you must be relaxed. The mind works best when relaxed. In a similar fashion, the stomach works best when relaxed. When eating, you should be calm and relaxed. If you are rushed, you will not digest your food properly. If you get enough sleep, you will be happy and a better student.

 

In particular, be sure to get enough sleep before tests. This way you will get a better grade on the test.

 

Having said this, there are reasons why you do not get enough sleep.

 

One reason is that you have a clock in your body that prevents you from falling to sleep if you go to sleep too early. The best thing to do is to try to go to bed and get up at about the same times, and to try to work around this problem..

 

Another big reason is that you have many things to do. There is a conflict, which you have to resolve, between your need for sleep and your needs for the other things. With maturity, we have to deal with and resolve these conflicts. You will not always succeed, but as long as you set a goal to try to get enough sleep, you will be better off.
