Sex of spiders

Female spiders are over 100 times as large as the male. Usually after sex she eats him. For the poor male spider, sex is a once in a lifetime job!

Let's not get upset about this. Insects are far smaller than people. It is not possible to have enough neurons in their brains to do any type of thinking that people do. The goal is passing on the genes. Once the male has sex, he passed on his genes, and accomplished his goal in life. The female can then get nourishment.

Of course, all life develops strategies for survival. Some male spiders have a strategy. They catch a fly, wrap it in spider silk, and then, after sex, they play dead, holding the fly in front, so that the big lady will take the fly.

The guys have another strategy. A spider can be fully developed sexually before the final molting. The male then drills a hole in the female's exoskeleton and deposits his sperm. In this case he is not eaten.

By the way, you molt also. You have a small car. As you get more money, you get a larger car. A car is like your exoskeleton.
