I once took a walk during lunch when a strong bolt of lightning struck nearby. Lucky there were trees nearby so that I was not hit. Car alarms in the parking lot went off. What happened is that the strong current of lightning created a magnetic field (currents create magnetic fields) that set off the car alarms.
