There are several rules that can help studying languages.

First is try not to translate into English, but instead think of the object. This is how a baby learns English. The baby does not translate into English, as the baby does not know English. Instead, the baby says, “Hand” and thinks of the hand. Students should do the same.

There is a second important reason for not translating into English. Words have definitions and connotations. The definition is the definition in the dictionary. The Spanish and English definitions may be the same. The connotation is the feelings you get from reading, and coming across this word. Connotations in English and Spanish are different. If you translate, you will get the English connotation, not the Spanish, and this is wrong.

Secondly, we have to know the grammar.
